The Atelier collection reinvents the Opinel marquetry.
The result of the creativity and know-how of our cabinetmakers, the handle of the Atelier collection combines walnut and ebony.
This novelty is part of Opinel's approach to make maximum use of European wood species and to optimize the consumption of exotic wood by reinterpreting the scraps resulting from the manufacture of handles.

Handle
Walnut handle from French forests with African ebony heel. These two species are separated by a maple layer. To get a velvet touch, a specific wax is applied manually on each handle.
Safety ring
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the N° 06. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
